Other people often see us differently than how we perceive ourselves to be. Using your storyline as background, describe your character firstly through the eyes of his/her parents, and then from the point of view of a partner/lover. Are they identical? Which does your character consider to be the nearest to how they are? Which is the closest to the character you originally created?
