Most of us have a morning routine that eases us into the day - think about this in today’s exercise for fiction writers.
What kind of a morning person is your main character? Write down his/her average workday schedule from the moment she wakes until she leave her home at the start of her daily activities.
Next write a scene where this character oversleeps – keep in mind their reaction to being late, how flexible they are with normal rituals (such as a shower), how they feel this will affect the rest of the day, etc. Also, if by oversleeping, they will be late – how do they normally react to others who aren’t punctual? How does this influence their reaction at their own tardiness?
