A visualization exercise this morning!

When writing fiction it’s usually necessary to create a sense of place - and probably not a place you’re currently in.  This is where the ability to visualize something in your mind and be able to describe it comes in useful.  So with that in mind, this morning’s exercise is as follows:

Close your eyes.  Picture yourself sitting at the edge of a river.  Now describe the scene all about you - opening your eyes first!  Remember to use all of your senses in the description.  When you’re done, read it back aloud to yourself.  Is what you’ve written, the same picture you saw in your mind?
