Are you a Slave to your Cell?

Imagine waking up one morning and finding that cell phones were illegal.  Write about how you would feel.  Would this affect your life in a positive or a negative way?  Have you ever tried going without your cell phone for 24-48 hours (no texting/calls incoming or outgoing) either because you wanted to consciously take a break from it, or because you left it at home?  Did you enjoy the experience or did it make you unsettled?  How much of a slave to your cell phone are you?

Following on from yesterday’s exercise, today your creative mission is to write an acceptance speech for an award.  This could be an award as a great parent, or a fabulous writer ….or if you aspire to act, why not think big and write your acceptance speech for your Oscar!    When you’re finished being modest about your talent and thanking everyone you need to for helping to achieve this precious prize, read your speech aloud and see if you’ve managed to do so in your allocated 45 seconds!

The annual Oscar ceremony was held a few days ago and statues given to those in the movie making business that the powers that be thought worthy.  Today’s exercise is to think about these ceremonies and write an opinion essay.  Perhaps you think they are great entertainment.  Perhaps you think that there are other professions that are more deserving of this kind of attention.  Perhaps you think that it’s just a publicity stunt to get more people to go to the movies and increase the profits for the movie companies.  Whatever you think, remember it’s a personal opinion so it can’t be wrong but it should be substantiated by reasons why you have this opinion.
